WIN PRIZES! VOTE FOR 'BIGGEST BUTTHOLE'
Action and other sports stars are usually pretty cool. But there are a few buttholes out there. Vote for the biggest butthole, and winbig. Best part: lotsa prizes!
To vote: Tell Adventure Sports Weekly who you think is the biggest butthole in sports, and why. Go into as much detail as you wish, but keep it clean. Bonus points if you've actually met the sports star and formed your opinion based on that. You can vote more than once. Votes will be posted! Contest closes August 31. Entries will be judged by a panel made up of Adventure Sports Weekly staff and contributors, three former Olympic athletes, two elite coaches, and one newspaper critic. Entries will be judged on the following: writing quality of your vote, unusual vote nominations for 'Biggest Butthole,' and humorous detail. Humorous detail trumps all. All entries must have a name and an address to which prizes can be mailed if you wish to be in the running for a prize.
PRIZES: This is the fun part. On August 8, the largest merchandise show in America comes to Salt Lake City. The Outdoor Retailer Show is attended by every major manufacturer of outdoor gear; from wetsuits to climbing ropes, sunglasses to sleeping bags, hiking boots to portable solar panels, all on display in retail-style booths. It's a huge bi-annual event. Freebies abound. One of the most frequently offered freebies is chapstick-style lip sun block.
The first 50 voters will get free lip sun block, mailed to the address on their entry.
The Outdoor Retailer Show lasts four days, Thursday to Sunday. When it's over, every retailer has to pack up all their stuff and ship it back to headquarters. By this time, everyone has wheeled and dealed and glad-handed, they are exhausted, they just want to get out and go home. The less they have to pack and ship, the happier they will be. That's why many retailers sell off stock at wholesale prices.
This is where the Adventure Sports Weekly prizes for the "Biggest Butthole" contest will come from. Prizes will be given to the top four winners. Prizes include hydration backpacks, day backpacks, multiple lift tickets to ski resorts for either summer or winter, and a huge First Place Prize which will be announced in a future issue. The winner will also get an Adventure Sports Weekly trophy.
